Beaune. “It’s been raining under the Halle for six years”: nearly €900,000 for a new roof

Amidst protective tarpaulins, rust, and antediluvian gutters, the Beaune Market Hall, located in the heart of the city's historic center opposite the Hôtel-Dieu, has been looking rather drab for several years. This deterioration is particularly evident in its roof, which creates an unwelcome visual contrast with the majestic roof of its glorious neighbor.
The problem has been identified, and during the presentation of the upcoming work program, during the Beaune municipal council meeting on Thursday, June 26, the mayor of Beaune, Alain Suguenot, did not mince his words: "It has been raining under the Halle for six years."
